CANDY LAND (=

As I make my way up the winding path, to the luxurious castle of King Candy I pass a variety of characters and their humble homes. My nostrils expand with the scent of the plums as I stroll by the Plum Man. Next, I hear the chop of peppermint and a tap on my back as Mr. Mint moves me along with one of his peppermint sticks. Its sugary coating sticks to my skin as I continue along my way. Next to me, my little brother hums softly in my ear to make the time move faster. Soon we can’t lift our smooth, glossy shoes, as we have been caught in the Gumdrop Mountains. I trotted over the brick bridge to escape from him. Dead ahead, I can hear the sound of an evil, booming cackle. The Licorice man awaits before me in his shiny suit made of rough licorce. The we come to Grandma Nut. I smelll the alluring aroma of her delicious home-made brownies as she offers them to m brother and I. Their chocolately goodness melts in my mouth as it slivers its way down to my stomach. I fell a warm cozy feeling inside as the Lollipop Princess and the Frosty Queen flash me genuine smiles. Finally, I reach the castle and hear the toot of horns as we walk into the royal palace and bow town to our King.

MY CAR (=

My family is the proud owner of some not-so-special cars. You see, my mom drives a 2005 Lincoln Navigator. Its stocky appearance and infamous rims have earned it the title of “The Diddymobile”. I personally think my mom just calls it this to embarrass me, but she claims she saw P. Diddy driving it in a music video. Whatever the case, it’s a decent car. It provides my family with all the room it needs to run from field hockey to football, without my mom having to give up her pride and to her dismay, drive a minivan. It may seem big from the outside, its shiny black paint job glistening in the sun after a fresh run through the car wash, but once inside, it’s not that grand. The back seats are in tight quarters and you are usually smashed together. The next row up has two seats with a perfect view of the microscopic DVD player. My personal favorite is all the way up in the front. It’s so easy to call “Shotgun!” and hop right in. You are in full control of the car, aside form the driver of course. You can adjust the heat, seat positions, windows, vents, lift gate, and even the radio with just a tap of your finger of the gleaming silver touch screen radio. All of the seats are made a of a light, almost cream colored, leather, worn in and marked from muddy dog paw prints and juice box spills. Its tinted windows help to shield your face as you point and laugh at other drivers on a long road trip. It always has a certain smell to it, the kind you can’t describe, but you just recognize as home. My parents suggest that I inherit it on my sixteenth birthday, but I’m still holding out for a shiny new ride!

TEN PEOPLE (=

1. Sam Brooks- Samuel is the tallest kid I know, towering above everyone at 6’, but his height comes in handy during his long cross-country wins.

2. Rebecca Marinucci- Rebecca is a hard-working and adorable teenage girl, but looks can be deceiving because her 5’ frame makes her appear much younger.

3. Kelly Marolla- Kelly has been my best friend since second grade, and although her big mouth gets her into sticky situations among friends, I know she is always there to cheer me up with her ridiculous walk.

4. Carrie Johnson- Carrie is a bubbly, perky kid who is sure of herself, despite her obnoxious laugh and voice.

5. Lauren Becker- Lauren appears to be a quiet, sweet, redhead girl, but break her out of her sell, or simply put her on the hockey field, and she’s one of the craziest people I know.

6. Sarah Higgins- Sarah Higgins, commonly known as “Man” for her handwriting that hasn’t changed since kindergarten, is a sarcastic, amusing girl with a crazy family to match.

7. Zoe Kale-Zoe is a flirty, athletic girl who enjoys staying up until 5 in the morning baking brownies and Mac-and-cheese in an attempt to make her bottom even larger.

8. Cameron Kellock- Cameron is an intelligent and confident individual with a highly contagious laugh and her skinny frame can gets her any guy.

9. Megan Dunn- Megan Dunn is a spunky brunette with cascading curls and a booming laugh, who will anything to anyone, even in her new Catholic school.

10. Erika Mayer- A spastic perfectionist with newly straight teeth who is madly in love with Matt Schulman.

New Year, New Start

Goodbye 2008, hello 2009. 365 days of ups and downs have finally passed and it is time for a fresh start. Around this time of year, everyone makes new year's resolutions, or goals they wish to accomplish by the end of the year. Most are long forgotten come December, and you still can't fit into that smaller pant size or you're still failing your classes. So this year i decided to make my goals realistic and easier to achieve so that by the end of the year, I won't wind up disappointed. My new year's resolution is to simply have more fun and also to stop procrastinating. That is my worst habit. I also want to wear my rubber bands so I can hopefully get by braces off before June.
